Urine color guide

A quick educational reference. It is not a diagnosis.

Pale Yellow

Usually suggests good hydration. Continue regular water intake unless your doctor has advised fluid restriction.

Dark Yellow

Often linked to dehydration or concentrated urine. Increase fluids if appropriate and observe.

Orange

Can occur with dehydration, medicines, vitamins, or liver/bile issues. Seek care if persistent.

Caution

Pink or Red

May suggest blood in urine, stones, infection, food color, or medicines. Urology review is advised if unexplained.

Consult

Brown / Cola

Can be seen with severe dehydration, blood breakdown, liver issues, or muscle injury. Medical review is important.

Consult

Cloudy

Can be linked to UTI, crystals, or dehydration. If associated with pain, fever or smell, consult a clinician.

Caution

Seek timely care for red urine, fever with chills, severe pain, or difficulty passing urine.
